Parquet flooring

So, my dream is to have proper parquet flooring. We are moving house and short of a miracle which sees us pulling up the carpet and finding some already there, I'm looking at getting some put in depending on cost.

Has anyone already done this and have any advice? Did you get new or reclaimed parquet? Is there a laminate option (in case it's wildly out of my price range)? Anything else I should know?

Keep it. Whereabouts are you? I may be able to pass on the details of the guys who restored our for us.

Slightly embarrassed as I have just realised it's not spelt parkay.

I posted on this thread originally!

We kept ours bought some more 2nd hand to make up for missing bits. Love it, seems to be indestructible.

Hi there ... we are just about to do the same thing. We have a big basement so its a big job .. Would love the name of your fitter if possible? We live in London and would so appreciate the recommendation.

Many thanks

Is there a laminate option

I'm about to order Karndean from their Art range for a small dining room floor. It's posh vinyl rather than laminate. I am a fan of Karndean in areas where you may need to regularly mop.

Hi, I hope you don’t mind me asking, some 4 years later, but would you be happy to pass on the details of your fitter for your parquet flooring? Where in London were they based? Many thanks!!

Hi! I'd also like to know the fitter in London. We're putting an extension on the back of the house and would love parquet in there.

Thanks

We had our parquet flooring done by a company called Whittlewoods based in Berkshire. They did a fabulous job. We live close to Heathrow, and they cover all over London so they should be able to help.
