Serving hatch

We have a serving hatch which we love. However, the kitchen is unheated and it's a bit draughty now the weather is turning colder. We've put up a basic roller blind for now, which has helped a bit, but the cats have now worked out that they can push it and get into the living room during the day (meaning they've locked themselves in a couple of times this week - once with a dead mouse). What would you suggest putting up instead? We thought maybe shutters but we don't know where to start.

70s hatches used to have little doors

Probably is an original 70s hatch but no doors - just a wooden frame. Do I just need to speak to a decent carpenter then?

A blinds company will do it but prepare for a shock at the price.

Yes, a joiner could make some. Wouldn't be too expensive, I'm sure.

Try looking at louve doors online, if you can find some the right size they shouldn't be too difficult to fit.

for the size you want, a square of ply with some trim round the edge will do fine. You need a person who can use a measure and a saw.
