Acrylic Splashbacks

Does any have acrylic splashbacks in their kitchen who could tell me what think of them and how easy they are to install please (cutting round sockets etc)?

I've just has a new kitchen installed - originally I wanted either glass splashbacks or just an upstand to match the worktop. However, the space between the worktop and the sockets is less than the required 110mm for the laminate upstand and I think glass splashbacks would be too expensive. I've seen the glass upstands but these are 114mm high which again won't fit.

I did explain this to the builder before the kitchen was installed but this is how it has ended up - so I now just have to deal with it !!! Angry

So I thought maybe an acrylic splashback full height between the worktop and the cabinets would be the answer.

Also where would be the best place to buy them from?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

No, but acrylic (perspex) is not hard or heat resistant, and will be marked or scratched from cleaning.

p.s.

I suppose you could get someone to saw a bit off the laminate upstand, or perhaps use cut tiles.

Doesn't need to be heat resistant as the it won't be behind the oven.

Don't really want tiles as they can look scruffy if the grouting gets dirty. Also I think splashbacks or upstands give a more modern look.

I suggested reducing the height of the laiminate upstand a bit but the builder said I he can't do that.

We have acrylic splashbacks in our kitchen which we got from Enhance Your Rooms and they are hard coated and scratch resistant. Much more hard wearing than glass and they look lovely, so easy to keep clean.

I'm really interested in those tj any chance you'd post a pic??

We've just ordered a splashback from The Plastic People for behind our bathroom basin. We haven't put it up yet (task for the weekend) but it looks good.

It was dead easy to order, and you specify the size, where you want socket holes etc. and get a quote online.

Did you get a clear or coloured one Cointreau? Will you post a pic? Pretty please! Smile

A clear one.

DH is tasked with putting it up tomorrow, and I'll try to do a pic.
