Can I add a Nest to old boiler with no thermostat?

This may be a stupid question but here goes.
Our boiler is fairly old and does not have a separate timer and thermostat. All the controls are on the front of the boiler itself. I am wondering about switching has suppliers and getting one of those remote thermostats that you can control with your phone, but don't know if it would be possible to fit one to our boiler and don't want to switch if not. Does anyone know?

All boilers should have a timer and a room thermostat regardless of going Nest. It could be quite inexpensive to bring it up to standard.

Unless yours is coal fired you almost certainly can.

Find the make and model and look up the installation instructions on the makers website.

Thanks PigletJohn. I've got the boiler manual remarkably so I will have a look. My thought was: if they supply and fit a Nest for free, could I save myself the expense of getting a thermostat/timer fitted? Or do I need one before the other?

I expect Nest will include a programmable thermostat which includes heating timer. They probably expect to find wiring in place to an existing stat so would not include running wires. It should be fitted in your main living room, not in the hall.

Compare the Nest price to having a Honeywell CM907 programmable thermostat fitted.
