I never have, and don't know wether johnstones, or Dulux, or some other brand, so thought I'd check with you homies.

Want something that don't peel off!

I used dulux when I did it years ago. Went over burgandy wallpaper with lilac paint and looked great. One coat and couldn't tell what was underneath. Do it!

I did dulux recently. Took three coats to cover dark walls, two for light ones. Ok finish now though

Yes - we used it to cover a colour choice disaster in the hall, stairs and landing where we had already done two coats of ordinary emulsion on most of the walls. It worked brilliantly with just one coat.

I hated it. Really gloopy to apply and still needed an extra coat in places. Tbf it was 10 years ago, paint may have improved since then.

It's very hard to do the same thickness od paint everywhere without missing a bit. I always need to do a second coat even if it's a one coat paint.

don't - waste of money and awful finish.

Riverland · 26/10/2014 23:43

Wowfudge, do you recall if you used Dulux? Or johnstons? Or?

Specialsubject..which brand was that and when?

Mary, I do think paint formulations are revised regularly!

Thanks for all the replies, I'm prepping the walls this week, and planning to paint on the weekend, so any further input welcome.

I've never used it, but have used 'Trade' paint this past weekend. Firstly, I gave the room a masking coat of normal Dulux Matt White. I didn't have enough so to mask the whole room, so I bought some Dulux Trade Matt White and the difference was very noticable, it covered up the bright paint much much better than the normal paint.

Oh that's interesting, chips, thankyou for that.

Hi - it was Dulux Once and we used rollers for the bulk of it with brushes for cutting in. It is a bit odd in texture when you're using it, which I think is to do with the depth of pigment, but we had no complaints with the finish. It has also worn well.
