Peach hallway?

Finally getting someone in to paint our hallway starting tomorrow (yay!) but I havn't officially decided on a colour yet.

With the wood floors and white skirting (stairs carpet is to be changed soon) I'd quite like pale peach walls but I've been told they're 'really 80's' Sad.

I'm looking at Dulux Soft Peach but is there an alternative anyone would recommend? Is peach really a no-no for a colour? It's a victorian terrace and I like a bit of colour so the rest of the house is shades of green, blue and yellow.

Help please!

I had this once in a flat and it would be a bit too magnolia for me now...

I would go for a more neutral like a taupe or even something with a bit of pink in (a colder shade, if that makes sense). Or with so much colour already, even an off white like Dulux Timeless.

But on the other hand, if you like the peach, it's your house so you should go for it!

The 80s sprung to mind for me too I'm afraid.

NancyJones · 23/10/2014 12:44

It's hideous, don't do it. It's probably the only colour I feel that way about so I'm not fussy. It's just so twee

What about F&B setting plaster? Less peachy more sophisticated pink.

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 23/10/2014 14:39

Peach just sounds institutional to me

We painted our bedroom peach a few years ago. It was like living in a giant Elastoplast. We painted over it after a few weeks.

Not much love for peach then! Grin

I quite like F&B setting plaster Whats, something with a little bit of pink sounds quite nice. I did look at pink as an option. I hate F&B paint but the decorator should be able to get the shade mixed in another brand (I think).

Elastoplast made me laugh by the way! Grin

I know someone with a pink hallway. It looks fab and really contemporary and warm.

If you like peach, you like peach. It's often quite insipid though.

This is nice but I'd call that pumpkin and not peach.

There's a peach wall in here - key is to make the colour strong enough and not to paint the whole hallway in it. Just one wall perhaps?

Our last house had Julie's Dream Liitle Greene paint in hall and it looked great with white skirting etc.

TheLeftovermonster · 23/10/2014 16:18

Maybe a pale, chalky peach would look nice and not 80s.

lemonpoppyseed · 23/10/2014 16:33

I think it's all in the shade you pick, and the lighting of the room etc. Unfortunately, it can be a costly mistake. Good luck!

Peach is out of fashion! If you care about that, don't use it!

It's a very tricky colour to work with. Can all too easily look like old ladies face powder.
