will stone or or porcelain tiles be too noisy/echo as we have a galleried landing? also, would you need underfloor heating or is that just a nice to have?

(Sorry no use to you!)

I have 60 x 30 polished porcelain tiles in my kitchen/utility/hall/cloakroom and also a galleried landing, not noisy at all with normal footfall, my DH stomps like an elephant so I can hear him Grin but then I can here him in the lounge which is carpeted. I don't have underfloor heating, although it would be nice !

Sorry meant to say these are our tiles !

Your tiles look good and I'll wait to see if any more responses. it's true to some degree that kids' noise travels regardless of floor type!

About to do tiles. V practical. Look good. No underfloor heating though!
And herds of elephants heard regardless!

that looks great Heels Are porcelain tiles slippery when wet?

I was originally considering slate (have it in kitchen so it feels a safe choice) but am being swayed by the more uniformed look of the procelain

They can be quite slippery yes, not so much when wet but in just socks. Having said that DD runs round and has never actually slipped up. They aren't that bad to keep clean either. We tend to not mop the whole thing but hoover it and any marks we take off with a baby wipe.
