Fitted wardrobes - ball park figure?

How much should I expect to pay for a wall of fitted wardrobes in an average sized bedroom in London / south east? We definitely need something bespoke rather than an ikea job as the shape of the ceiling is slightly unusual.

Can't remember what we paid for ours... but what you pay will depend upon:
a) the skill and reputation of the craftsman
b) whether he (or rarely she) uses an off-the-peg design or does drawings etc for you
c) how complicated the design is (drawers cost; mouldings cost; dovetails cost)
d) the quality of the materials (you will pay a lot more for solid oak compared to oak veneer on MDF; if you go for nice fittings e.g. solid brass, that will add ££ too)
e) if you're going for the painted look, you will save money if you paint it yourself

You might be able to get standard ones and pay a carpenter/cabinetmaker to make a cornice that fits the ceiling.

You could look up a few cabinetmakers etc on google, ring them, and ask them what they would charge for a basic design in whatever material you're thinking of.

My friend has just had some done, we are in Epsom. Hers are about 2m long with hanging and two sets of pull out drawers. She paid £1700. Thats unpainted.

We've just had some white painted shaker wardrobes made and paid £1,100 per metre which is considered pretty reasonable in the part of london we're in

Thanks. I guess I'll budget about £5k for 4 meters then. Feels kind of pricey for something you can't take with you when you move house!
