Compact (stackable?) eating solution

We have a smallish living room (approx 11ftx10ft) and pre-PFB we often occasionally ate a slovenly meal/breakfast off a large coffee table in front of the telly in the evenings. Now PFB has arrived we've gotten rid of the table so as to give maximum space for bouncer, toys etc during day. But I still want to have slovenly meals in front of the TV and I'm not a fan of eating off a tray. So I'm thinking a nest of tables (I know, super uncool) would be compact and foldable away for when we need the space back in the daytime. Anyone know of any nice ones?

Not so much nice as fit for purpoSe? Eating off a low nest table will do your back no favours at all! And often the smallest table will be far too small for a plate?

This would fold away and hide when not in use?

Ah thank you kato! I hadn't actually thought of anything like that. My initial idea was to get 'naice' nest of tables that we could use as genuine coffee/side tables for visitors once PFB is eating at dining table with us and we have renounced our slovenly ways. But that might be a good potential stopgap!

Brand new pfbs = TV dinners including white bread and comedy tables. DH and I had matching comedy lap trays. We do also have a nice oak nest of tables from john Lewis but they were a gift from Inlaws. Good for guests and cups of tea but not for dining off!

Go on! Get the comedy tables! Embrace it!

It's tempting....they do have maximum stealth TV dinner potential! No one would be any the wiser about our filthy habits!

what about something like this? little one could even have an Ikea type childs chair and sit at the low level to do paintings and play dough etc.

That is genius!

wow, I'm impressed! We have a big enough kitchen/diner for a 6 seat dinning table and I'm a little Envy now that that coffee table wouldn't work in here!

ArthurJob · 17/10/2014 22:50

Wow, that's also clever Emily. Can I ask, did you use them as a children's bench/desk too, and did that work well?

I have THESE They're compact, stackable, take up next to no room & wash well :) and weren't £900.

We have the same problem. I live in a tiny house with no room for a table and chairs and I was sick of sitting with my dinner on my knee. I looked on eBay and found a solid wood kitchen trolley with extendable table and stools which store underneath. It takes up hardly any space at all, and I keep nappies and wipes in the drawers. It's the perfect height for the high chair too. This one is essentially the same but not as nice (and mine was only £50!!). There was another version on amazon when I bought mine which was about 100 quid and was nicer than the one I've linked too so worth keeping an eye out. And check eBay too.

How have I not come across nacho hats before? Kind of want to make one of these ones and welcome the next lot of unwanted house guests through the door while wearing/using it.....

There are recipes online to make the hat out of tortilla. I think they're hilarious. Between that and a drink hat you're sorted.
