Is £3600 good for 4 windows, front and French doors?

We had Safestyle around d to do a quote. We used them in our last house and were happy with them although I did notice the handles seemed a little flimsy and seemed to be feeling flimsier after we left, nearly 3 years after they were installed. I have since read reviews online and they make for poor reading but we were happy with them.

In our last house we got 6 windows and an expensive front door for £2800. Yesterdays salesman whistled when I told him that and was quick to tell me prices had gone up. Not long before that my GPs got 11 windows, front and back doors and patio doors for 5k.

It isn't a priority at the moment but the French doors aren't great here and the front door apparently isn't safety glass and the whole door is glass so we thought we would get a quote. P!us DDs window has failed but it is the only one that has.

It doesn't seem like a good enough deal to me when there are lots of other things that we do need to do so I wasn't that bothered but after when I broke it down it actually seemed like quite a good price. But when you look on b and q, the French doors are under £200 and the front doors I like are just over £300. Obviously fitting has to be added but it makes £3600 for just 4 windows and 3 doors seem a lot. He kept going on that our windows are low so it has to be toughened safety glass etc etc but I thoughtey used this anyway?

This price has apparently gone now as it was an 'on the night only' deal and the normal price will be over 5k. Although all I need to do is get another person around to quote us if we really wanted to go ahead.

It doesn't sound too expensive but you are likely to get better quality for cheaper from a local fitter.

We've just paid £3600 for the windows and a set of french doors for our 1930s semi. That doesn't include fitting as our joiners fit them so probably around £250 for fitting.

That was for 2 bays, 7 windows and patio doors, leaded windows at the front. We used a local company.

My friend is using Safestyle and her quote is £3200 for 6 windows and a front door, they're all quite small/average sized windows.

I think we got ours cheaper than what they should have been but generally local companies are cheaper.

Re the safety glass the window company guy who came to measure said we had to have toughened glass in the bays. Its because of the height from the floor, I think.

I had my 3 bed terraced house double glazed and it cost me £3900 and this covered 5 windows, one frosted bathroom window, a new front door (composite door), had the living room half wall knocked out and sliding patio door put in - all front facing windows have Georgian bars.

V happy with service and quality of windows - today I woke up to the windows having condensation on the outside which is good news as it means the windows are keeping the heat in the house :)

sorry forgot to add I used Britelite

Thanks for your replies.

So the quote isn't too bad (although what you paid is much better msmorgan!) but as it isn't a priority I'm not too bothered. I think we may look at a local company coming and doing the front and french doors as they do need doing.
