Aga or Range Cooker and Underfloor Heating

I need the opinion of the Mumsnet jury......kitchen/diner is north facing, 12' x 20' and will be the most used room in the house. The floor will be tiled. I love cooking and have always wanted an Aga. Would you go for an Aga or a Rangemaster plus underfloor heating? ie should I choose a large gas bill or a large electricity bill! The Aga will be reconditioned rather than new.

Thanks in advance

We had an Aga in our last house and tbh never ever again! The constant heat was fab in winter, crap in summer. You have to drastically alter how you cook and the gas bill was stonking.

At least with a range master it's only on when you want it to be, you can sear a steak on it and it's much more effecient. Underfloor heating is now quite fuel efficient and economical plus only on for part of the year.

We have an Everhot which is programmed to go on and off through the day, it has an induction hob that is permanently usable. We also have underfloor heating because we thought that if we sell the house we would take the Everhot and so the room should have some form of heating. Then we also have a neff combined microwave/ grill/ oven for the summer when the big oven is off.
We rarely turn the underfloor heating on because the room is warm enough without it.

Depends a bit on the house… We're in a very draughty listed building with no mains gas. We have an aga. Our next door neighbours (similar house), put in a new kitchen a few years ago and have a range master and underfloor heating. I would swap with them any day.

You won't need underfloor heating with an aga. We have one in a big kitchen in a very cold house and the room is always lovely and warm, even when the rest if the house is freezing cold!

I have underfloor heating but no Aga. Two ovens plus a microwave combo. Works for me.

I love my Aga. It is in a new(ish) extension and we have underfloor heating as well! Yes, it is too hot in the summer so if you have space have an oven and hob too.
The Aga is my most favourite thing after a dishwasher, it is not just a thing to cook, it heats water (not enough to for underfloor heating though), dries clothes (irons dome too). I wouldn't be without mine (old reconditioned one)
