I want this carpet

I've fallen in love with it, but it's too expensive (£100 per m2). It would bankrupt me to cover my stairs plus landing and one bedroom. Has anyone seen anything similar but a bit (OK, a lot) cheaper?

Sorry I haven't, but I do love it!

Gatekeeper · 10/10/2014 19:13

No but I agree, it is bloody lovely

Greencheese · 10/10/2014 20:21

That's lovely, as you say very pricey though. Have you looked at 'Alternative Flooring' they have some nice ones. Some may be a similar price though. I drool over them too.

Polonium · 10/10/2014 20:23

Lovely. Whose carpet is it?

Poofus · 10/10/2014 21:09

It is from Alternative Flooring (good guess GreenCheese!)

Isn't it lovely. Sigh. I really cannot justify or afford it. I was hoping someone would say "yes, they have one just like that on special offer in Carpetright"! I guess not.

Although I am ancient in years , I like to think I have modern tastes. That carpet would make a giraffe dizzy . I can imagine someone worse for wear becoming even more worse r walking down a staircase with that carpet. Perhaps wearing dark glasses would lessen the dazzle. One is on ones second large brandy so perhaps if one was sober one may say fuyck it that's awful . One hundred squids m2 for that? come on , I would want that much to burn it . The world is a scary place since they let Gordon Brown & hairy Osbourne loose on the public seriously that's one awful pattern for a staircase

Confused What does our esteemed Chancellor have to do with my taste in carpets?

Looking at the photo has forced me to make a 99 call and the medics are at this time giving me life saving medications that will bring my eyes back to normal everyday functions. I am at this time phoning desperately claims are us . I intend suing the said manufacturer for whiplash and deprivation of normaleyeball functions Grin

Fcukfifa · 10/10/2014 22:18

Ooh I saw a carpet I liked through a shop window the other by alternative flooring and couldn't remember so thank you for the reminder :D

Polonium · 10/10/2014 22:24

Ah. It's a Margo Selby design. No wonder it's so gorgeous. I have a couple of her cushions and there are superb. Timeless and beautiful. She really is the mistress of pattern.

Polonium · 10/10/2014 22:24

Are you sure you can't afford it? It would make your hall look amazing.

Polonium · 10/10/2014 22:25

they are superb.

roneik · 10/10/2014 22:29

That's ok , I now wear a helmet walking down certain staircases and find that settles me before I co to bed. My cocoa now stays hotter since it takes less time to navigate the stairs now that I have removed a similar carpet.

I have been to spec savers and they tell me its normal to get these panic attacks if you have the helmet the wrong way round on your head

seagull70 · 10/10/2014 22:37

I love those designs - we are looking for something bold for our stairs so thanks OP Grin

Hassled · 10/10/2014 22:42

That is one great carpet. You're making me want to recarpet my stairs.

Mintyy · 10/10/2014 22:44

Oooh, I don't like it. I'm in a minority though I see.

roneik · 10/10/2014 22:46

I have gone for bold too. I have now installed a stair-lift that has not one but two speed settings, one is manic the other is are you really wanting to an out of body experience at this time

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 10/10/2014 23:22

I wish I hadn't clicked this thread. I love it now and can't afford it either.

Are patterns 'in' then? I've never bought carpet before. I've just managed to persuade DH we should go for stripes on the stairs and plain grey everywhere else. Is that terribly 2013? Are patterns the next big thing?

TheLeftovermonster · 10/10/2014 23:24

I'm not terribly keen on it either.
Quite like some of the other ones they have, though.

roneik · 10/10/2014 23:32

Yes patterns are so pine cladding and ceiling polystyrene tiles.

I have used masking tape and going for the zebra effect lounge . If it takes me all night I am determined to be in the position of calling it a first.

B and Q did me a job lot price on the tape ,and one may just use the excess to redo the bathroom . I was thinking double side tape for the toilet roll though.

TheLeftovermonster · 10/10/2014 23:34

I think I have a problem with the size of the pattern - it should be small and subtle or big and bold. This one is kind of in the middle and it just feels wrong to me - for that space. It may suit large rooms and big staircases better, or maybe hotels.

RJnomore · 10/10/2014 23:38

Eww no. I am not a pattern person at the best of times, but that - not good. Would look far too much in most homes.

I can think of a few places it might be ok, but only ok, and everything else would need to be pretty simple. It's too fussy and at the same time, not bold enough.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 10/10/2014 23:45

Are we all looking at the same thing???

roneik · 12/10/2014 18:03
