Queen if Cream would like to embrace colour

Have been driving myself mad trying to come up with a colour for 1970's living room.

Really don't want cream again.

There are three doors into room, room not very large, but is very light. We have parquet flooring and brown furniture so want to avoid any more brown or creams. We would love a strong colour, but would like it on all the walls, rather than as a feature.

As you can see we have been testing paint out like mad, but am now in danger of disappearing up own bum with indecision!

Any advice or suggestions would be lovely.

Sage green? Not too dark. Dulux do a nice colour called overly olive I think.

Overtly olive (Dulux) is nice, or B & Q do a slightly lighter green called Olive Green. I used it in my kitchen, it's very subtle.

I bought Overtly I've for one wall in my bedroom but it's not right with the bedding I have so I'm using it on one wall on my dining room.

Yes overtly not overly! Planning to use in my kitchen too.

I already have this in my kitchen unfortunately. I have been gradually adding colour Smile. Thank you for the suggestion though

Ok obviously a popular choice for kitchens! How about pale powdery blue? I don't think the reds and purples you've tried out will work so well - can make it feel very dark and small and it looks like quite a light room, you should work with that.

Not thought of blues, will have a mooch through the catalogues.

Dulux Egyption Cotton is gorgeous. Ok it's still a neutral but do give it a look, it's so lovely.

Duck egg blue would also be lovely.

Yes, steer away from the reds & purples, you want to neutralise the warmth in the floor and fireplace. A a pale duck egg blue or Eau de nil type green will cool the orangey/red tones in the floor and fireplace and keep the sense of light and space that 1970's houses are often so brilliant for.
