Roll top baths in small bathrooms...yay or nay?

Hi all

Am trying to decide whether to get one of those roll top baths with a flat end which can be sealed flush against the wall, and is designed for showering in.

Question is...in a small bathroom and against the wall, is their impact lessened / do they just look a bit sad / small / not worth the extra expense?

Am thinking in terms of adding extra saleability to the house further down the line.

Or anyone have one in a small bathroom and had good results?

What is the point of it being roll-top?

I would see it as a minus point if I was buying a house - all style and no practicality. And I don't like the style, either. Fakes of a style that has been superseded by something more practical.

Hi again all

Thanks for last few tips - they were very helpful and thought I'd pop back with an update / resolution.

Have gone round to some showrooms and after much ruminating decided in the end NOT to go with the roll top bath.

Think our bathroom is just a bit too titchy to do it justice. Have gone for a run of the mill one, but hoping it will look okay.

Decided as well that for showering (which it will mainly be used for), the flat bottom part of a showering roll top is not very large... Hope the run of the mill acrylic one will look, okay. We couldn't afford one of the nice expensive baths so hope this one looks okay in our Victorian house... Going to try and jazz the bathroom up with nice paint (will prob need to start another thread for that!).

If you arnt having the roll top bath maybe have a pretty toilet, (a phrase I never thought I'd say). I saw this in a showroom the other day with a wooden lid, it looked lovely, it may give you to vintage look but without the need for a roll top bath. It's not a super high toilet cistern, it's a mid level one.

Haha thanks Greencheese..! That IS a lovely toilet.... Sadly we've already bought one (same day as the bath), but we did go for a trad one with a lever.

I know what you mean about can't afford either. Ours is being done with the help of Mr Credit Card (gulp).

I wanted one of those!! Couldn't fit one in thanks to stupid window placement :( but I do have two roll top baths, so shouldn't complain...

Hi all. I was just wondering is it possible to box in a roll top bath. I would like to change the bath but don't think it will go down my new staircase. The bath sits against a wall on one side.
Thank you 😊
