and what is it like? what lovely extras did you think of as well?

we are going for white with oak laminate worktops, Belfast sink, integrated appliances.

approx £2.7k

another guy came round today to quote - he reckoned his offering would be £10-15k; which is £9-£14k more than my savings....

so cheer me up please

I'm very sold on the ikea stuff so am happy to go with them.

thanks!

Ooh and my best best bit is the 80cm boholmen non-inset sink. It has changed my life Grin

Now wishing I had installed a boiling water tap but we fitted it ourselves and tried to avoid moving any plumbing or doing anything complicated. Jealous though!

With regard to the Legs! I reckon it'd be Roomba time, of necessity, to keep clean there. And I do think fixing wheels 'd be sensible so that cupboards could be moved.

Eddie have a look at their kitchen planning thing online. You could follow their instructions for measuring up, make an appointment with them for kitchen planning with 3d pictures. I think that is a free service too and you could make the trip well worthwhile.

CS oh to have such a kitchen. The size, the gloss the dancing...! Grin

ch1a honestly if you can install a kitchen yourself you could install a boiling water tap. The only thing is you need a plug socket under your sink.

We got an insinkerator hot water tap only (we have cold filtered water from the American fridge freezer) last year it was around £350 it seems to have shot up in price. There are videos on YouTube on how to install it too.

Solo yes I swooned too, but at the cost of the thing in its entirety Grin the kitchen was cheap, but because we needed the garden landscaped after the build (sloped garden) and had to actually build the extension we had years of serious saving. So I lived with the awful kitchen for 3 years, hated every time I mopped the floor and cleaned a worktop that looked like it belonged in a chip shop Grin I currently have gold taps in the bathroom and en-suite so I look at them with the same disgust but know that someday they will be shiny and chrome.

But yes, an Ikea kitchen is beautiful, cheap without looking cheap and does last.

We have just refitted our kitchen, got it all from diykitchens.com. Just over £5k with real oak doors, pewter handles, porcelain sink. It's a 40sqm kitchen so big. We fitted it ourselves, but got a carpenter to do the work tops, plinths and cornice. Very pleased with the carcase quality and was straightforward to fit.

Billy do you have a corner post? I'm having my kitchen fitted today and need the dimensions of a corner post.

best thing about ikea kitchens is you can go and handle the stuff yourself. you can see all of the options they have and are free to mix and match things from different suppliers yourself. dont feel like you need to get everything from the same place (or same few places!)

I've designed bespoke kitchens made by a team of joiners and arranged ikea kitchens for a full spectrum.

My own kitchen isn't ikea, it was put together using MFI cabinets bought from their liquidation outlet (which meant a lot of lightning fast design work). However, the oven and timber worktop are from Ikea, the dish washer from John Lewis, the sink from Wickes and cooker hood from B&Q. Also also got the fitter to cut up some bits and pieces so that we could effectively "integrate" our microwave (tesco) and house our boiler.

You can definately get a high finish with the right touches and consideration but without needing to spend a fortune.
