Glazed panels between kitchen and dining room

I am thinking of knocking out 2 sections of wall between the kitchen and dining room and putting in glazing. I don't really want open plan but it would make the two rooms a bit more connected and allow more light into the kitchen.

But I'm worried it will look old-fashioned. What sort of contemporary glazing options are there?

Bifold doors are fab!

We can't do this as the openings will only be window sized, can't go down to the floor as there are fixed base level units.

So I suppose they would just be internal windows. But would they need a frame or can you put the glass straight into the opening?

I'd have thought you could put the glass pretty much just into the frame but it would need to sit in something.

For some reason reading this has reminded me of some cool glass on Grand Designs where you could switch it from being clear to opaque at the flick of a switch.

Have you looked at crittal windows. Think that's what they're called. Steel frames, contemporary looking.

Thanks pinkje will have a look at those.
