Undermounted Sinks - PigletJohn

We're going to pay the deposit on our kitchen island tomorrow. The final bill was (as always) more than we anticipated; though it did include 600 for a small sink and taps.

The firm in question have said that we can provide our own sink and taps if we so choose, but that we have to ensure that any undermounted sink (think a small circular bowl for washing food) must be suitable for use with a wooden worktop.

Does anyone pigletjohn? know what attributes a sink will need to have to be suitable? A wider flange? I love that word

I think the kitchen bloke may be talking out of his backside, but don't know for certain.

Cheers.

What the firm has in mind, is that wood does not last well when it gets wet. They think that if you have an undermount sink and a wooden worktop, the worktop will be water-damaged and they want you to agree in advance that it's your fault, not theirs.

Many people, including me, say that wooden worktops are ideal for showrooms, and not ideal for kitchens.

O.k. They were happy to provide an undemount sink and tap for 600. They just seem to be suggesting that the sink had to be suitable.

I may get a quote on granite (but we've already gone over budget).
