Shed roof yesterday and covered it with pondliner as it lasts better than felt.

Ooh, Choc - I need to do that - thanks for the tip Smile

Solo · 22/09/2014 14:55

Bet it doesn't tear as easily either! excellent tip!

I have:

Lime mortared repairs on our stone garden wall
Laid several laminate floors
Tiled a kitchen and a bathroom
Taken out old single sink and replaced it with a double sink
Various decorating - stripping woodchip, filling, painting, putting new wallpaper up, sanding filling and restaining wooden sash windows
Plastering inside a cupboard (badly)
Mortared the patio
Made a large shelving unit out of leftover decking
Made a planter out of leftover decking
Put up more flat-packed furniture than I care to remember (I have SO many Ikea spanners and alan keys in my toolbox!)
Replaced all the light fittings in our house

The only thing I wouldn't do is any more plastering (there's a reason it's so expensive!) and carpet fitting.

What to do - Google it and you will see loads of advice on it.
I will try and find company I ordered it from.

Mouse infestation.
Never-woulda-thunk-it, but combination of MD advice, and Robert Dyas helped me to fix something I had never considered possible...

MN advice

Put tongue and groove panelling round bottom of bathroom. (very enjoyable)
Did all tiling in bathroom and kitchen.
Fitted all new light switches and door handles.
Put up lots of shelves.
Fitted new fireplace.
Do all papering and painting.

I have a large assortment of tools (DH not allowed access)

Not keen on plumbing but do the simple stuff.

Thanks Choc, mind you, I think the whole roof of the lean-to may need replacing - that's a whole other project! Shock

Kirsty wins!! Grin

windchimes23 · 23/09/2014 08:41

Laid wooden floors
Replaced entire kitchen including a full rewire.
Gutted and replaced a bathroom.
Hung chandeliers
Tiled
Fixed washing machines and tumble driers
Fitted bathroom extractor fan
Moved a radiator
Rodded drains
Tons of other stuff...

Today I shall be replacing a upvc door panel and fitting a new cat flap. Assuming that the delivery turns up on time. Because my stupid dog trashed the previous one trying to escape during last weeks thunder storms!

I really enjoy a spot of DIY, you can find a video of how to do most stuff on YouTube.

My future ventures are going to include laying engineered oak flooring. Now I'm worried about this but only because I have absolutely no margin for error. I have just enough to do the room and not a splinter more!

I'm going to try to lightly sand and paint my dark MDF bath panel white. Put together two new bathroom cabinets. Put a shower screen up and replace wooden slats in the bathroom wooden venetian blind that have discoloured over the years. I also need to 'repair' a cracked bathroom tile that is cut at an angle at the bathroom window. I have no leftover tiles to replace it.

I will be moving my current bedroom wardrobes (Schreiber) from one bedroom into the other, cutting half of one away, cutting out part of one sidewall to accommodate the gas boiler into it. The wardrobes were ex display in MFI 20 years ago and have been moved (in house) before, so I don't know if they will survive another move! but I love the chunkiness of the shelves and want to save as much money as possible. I'm then going to put in sliding wardrobe doors to save room.

I have to build a stud partition wall with room for a sliding door, that disappears into the wall iyswim?

Lots more besides.

I will not be plastering, installing the wood burner or replacing the windows and doors! Grin.

Sooo! I must get off MN and get on with packing everything up!

Impressed and proud of you all, also, inspired!

If any of you feel like making videos for YouTube of yourself doing this stuff, I'm sure you'd get hordes of views. There must be lots of women like me who are learning to do stuff and want to see other women getting on with it and sharing their experiences.
