Recommendations for where to buy kitchen appliances

I am currently getting quotes for a Howdens kitchen. They have included all kitchen appliances and they are all their own brand Lamona, which I haven't heard many good things about. Has anyone got someone that they used that they can recommend? I have been looking at Appliances Direct online and they look quite good but the showrooms are all in the north so wouldn't be able to actually see any of the products before buying online.

Have just ordered some of mine through Boots Appliances. Lots of the models are models that you could see in Currys / Comet or whatever, just cheaper.

Appliances on line or AO I think they are now called. We have found them reliable and they have a wide choice.

I used AO as they were the cheapest.

AO.com is brilliant.

I've just ordered most of my appliances for a new kitchen from ao.com, they were competitive on price and their delivery is free and very flexible.
I had a look at Which and other reviews and decided which appliances I wanted, and then shopped around - I was amazed at the difference in pricing between different retailers for exactly the same product. Even ao were considerably more expensive for a couple of appliances so I have ordered those elsewhere.

Always try your local kitchen specialist. You will be surprised at how competitive they can be. They will be able to offer you sound advise, good after sales backup and most importantly you wont have to wonder why your high street looks desolate and empty. Your local businesses are owned by people who probably live and spend their money locally which in turn keeps the local economy thriving.

I know this sounds very idealistic, but just give them a try. As a kitchen retailer, I know how much emphasis we put into training our staff and how much better they are on product knowledge and how focussed we are on customer service and competitive we are on appliances. I can say with reasonable confidence that most good kitchen specialists have similar ethos.

I've just done this KM. I had a long list of appliances with the best possible price then went to my local, smaller supplier.
They price matched and delivered exactly when I wanted. I also know if there are any problems they will sort it out. Local is good.

Thanks for all the good reccomendations. I will also try our local stockist. There are two that I know of in my town. I have always assumed that they would be more expensive as an independent so it is good to hear that they will try and be competitive.
