Hanging a clothes rail in an alcove

I thought this would be easy but it's not and so am hoping mumsnet has the answer... I am trying to do up the baby's room on a v tight budget. She has a chest of drawers in an alcove but really needs hanging space. Where could I find a pressure-mounted rail to hang in the alcove? Any ideas?

you can get pressure fit poles for net curtains from places like homebase, they wouldn't take a great deal of weight but might be ok for a few childrens clothes. other than that you could screw some brackets into the wall and put up a rail that way

Why not just put up a peg rail and hang your clothes hangers on those.

We have done this in a few rooms and it works really well, DH out them up pretty quickly, they look to me like metal poles with a bracket on each end screwed into the wall

You can get drop in rail holder things that you screw to the wall, then you can cut the rail to fit the space.

I'm on my phone so can't do clicky links, sorry, but here is an URL to some in screw fix:

B&Q etc will probably sell similar, just make sure you buy a rail the same shape as the fixtures! Wink

If you can't screw things to the wall, then you can get pressure fit shower curtain rails which are more substantial than the net curtain version ... whether they will hold more weight, I don't know.
