We're renovating and extending our new house and I'm struggling to make decisions as there's just so many things to decide on. I think I'm down to these two baths for the main bathroom but can't decide. DH has no opinion as he never uses the bath so he isn't bothered.

I'll try and link the pics, first one is the Cast Iron Bath Co. Clovelly bath, a slipper bath, painted in an F&B grey probably.

Second is the BC Designs boat bath, it's an acrylic painted bath.

Just attempted to add pics but apparently I need to do something in the privacy settings, no idea how to though!

If anyone has seen the above baths can I have their opinion? I'll have a mess about and try and post the pics. Also if anyone knows how to add pics or links on an iPad can they let me know, I'm not using the app, I have it though if it's any easier?

I google searched images of the baths, saved image then uploaded via boxes under the post.

Not using the app either. You can link if you follow the instructions at the bottom of the page. You use square brackets.

As to which i prefer, i like the bc one better.

I prefer the BC one.

I like freestanding baths but the issue we had was not quite enough room for a shower cubicle/ walk in shower- and although these baths have shower attachment you can't really stand up to shower without getting water all over.

How are you getting round this?

Thanks for the replies, I'll have another go adding pics, I need some opinions on tiles too.

I think the BC is my favourite but I do like the slipper bath and it's around £400 less so it might come down to cost.

We're having standpipe taps with a shower attachment for washing hair and probably also a walk in shower. We can fit a walk in shower if I keep the bath to under a 1700, the two baths above are 1560 which I've tried out lying in and they are fine.

If we don't put a shower in the main bathroom there is one in the en suite, it would just make the bathroom look more spacious and the size of the bath wouldn't be an issue. We have two daughters and are thinking once they are teenagers two showers would be useful though so if possible would like a separate shower in the main bathroom.

Two showers will become v v v useful.

Personally I find a freestanding shower an essential and always use the shower when hairwashing - better on the water consumption too (we have a meter)

Was there any difference in comfort in the two baths OP?

Without seeing them I think I'd go for the acrylic boat bath on the grounds that I assume the water would stay warmer for longer? and that I wouldn't have to clean underneath it Blush

I prefer the BC one. Simple & a lovely shape.
I'd go for the Cast Iron one if it was a period property with loads of space though.
Have you sat in either, which is the most comfy?

msmorgan · 08/09/2014 13:56

Thanks for adding the pics Pinkje, just noticed!

I've sat in one exactly the same as the slipper bath made by a diff company and that was comfy and plenty of room for my DD's to be in together, or me and the 2 year old in together. I can't find the BC boat bath in a showroom anywhere near where we live, I've tested out similar styles and they were comfy though.

Size wise they're about the same, our house is a 1930's semi, they would both fit in the bathroom with a walk in shower as well, it just means less floor space than without the shower and I'd go for a 1700 bath if we didn't fit a shower.

I have thought about the cleaning aspect, housework is not one of my strongpoints so on that basis the BC bath would be better.
