Moving the loo into the hot water tank cupboard - anyone done it?

At the moment we have a four bedroom house and one compact bathroom with a shower over the bath, basin and loo. I want to have a separate loo to ease bathroom congestion and to gain some privacy! As much as I would like one, there is no room to add an ensuite. There is a loo downstairs.

I am wanting to move the loo to the next door hot water tank/linen cupboard (which is not next to an exterior wall (it has the bathroom on one side, a bedroom, and hall way on two sides)). I would want to relocate the tank into the loft. With the loo gone, I would add a separate shower in the bathroom.

The cupboard dimensions are 125 cm x 82 cm
The bathroom dimensions are 210 cm x 224 cm

Can this be done? How much does it cost? Any advice much appreciated!

If I just added a wall between the loo and rest of the bathroom, the bathroom would be minute so I'm not keen on doing that.

Thanks.

you will have to run a 100mm pipe from the back of the WC to the soil pipe. It will be almost horizontal, with a slight fall. Can you do that?

The cupboard size you describe will be very cramped.

p.s.

You could however turn the cupboard into a shower cubicle.

Thanks PigletJohn. I don't know about the run for the pipe, but having a pokey family loo doesn't sound great. I think I might have to live with it. Sad Not having an ensuite was my big compromise when we bought this house. DH has suggested sacrificing one of the bedrooms to make it into an ensuite but I think turning a four bedroom house into a three bed would be madness. We could always convert the garage into a room and bathroom at a later date.
