house still on rightmove after offer accepted

We had an offer accepted on monday-we offered the full asking price with the condition it was taken off the market. The vendor agreed. Just browsing rightmove while putting kids to bed and not only is the house still on as available but the photos have been added to and updated, and they have also added a floorplan!
Is this usual?? I know our offer was only accepted a few days ago but this sets alarm bells ringing.
We are extremely paranoid buyers though-been trying to move since feb but lost 2 buyers & our dream house along the way.

Ring the agents and ask them if its off the market and see what they say. Ime there is a lag of a few days between a property being taken off the market and it been noted as sstc on right move.

Bowlersarm · 04/09/2014 19:10

If you're still browsing rightmove should that be ringing bells for your vendor?

Ring the ea tomorrow and tell them you're concerned it's still being marketed. See what they say.

VivaLeBeaver · 04/09/2014 19:10

And I also think its fair to still be on right move but marked as sstc until you've exchanged. The seller could also be nervous that you back out eight weeks down the line.

Sylviecat · 04/09/2014 19:18

Only browsing rm to look at pics of house again and start to imagine where to put all our stuff!
Understand them needing back up in case we pull out. Just the updated pics concerned me, plus we specifically asked that it be taken off the market. Guess I just need to call ea's.

If you're feeling devious then you can get a friend to ring up and ask to view - then if they get a date to do that you know it's still being marketed. Then you can go to the agents asking why it's still on rightmove, if they say it isn't being marketed (when you know it is) that's a major red flag for you and you need to insist on it coming off before you start laying out money on survey etc. If they won't do that they've broken your agreement and you should walk away.

Sylviecat · 04/09/2014 19:41

Great plan. Dp just calling the ea's now under a fake name..

Let us know how you get on!

Pipbin · 04/09/2014 21:17

And.........?

Our house was on Rightmove for about a week as available once our offer was accepted.

LadyStark · 04/09/2014 21:19

Does it say under offer on the ad?

LadyStark · 04/09/2014 21:20

Ours was on for ages but with the under offer sign on it, I think this is how estate agents lure in potential buyers, even if specific house is sold.

knittedslippersx2 · 04/09/2014 21:25

It still shows 'under offer' and SSTC homes. You can hide them or display them. Rightmove only gets updated on Wednesdays I think so maybe it missed the deadline to be changed.

Mostlyjustaluker · 04/09/2014 21:26

The house we bought was still on right move for 6 weeks after we bought it! I did check with the agents that they were nolonger accepting viewings ect.

WhatsGoingOnEh · 04/09/2014 21:28

I feel your pain - I've been trying to buy a house since December. Have a Wine

Holdthepage · 04/09/2014 21:34

Why should they take it off the market? Have you instructed a solicitor, paid for a survey, provided evidence to back up you offer? Until you do the house is still for sale.

Sylviecat · 04/09/2014 21:49

Office was closed, will ring in the morning. I'm fine with it still being on rm, and understand they want contacts for other interested people in case we pull out. But we did make full asking price offer on understanding it would be taken off the market, I.e. no viewings.

Like I said-it's the new improved photos uploaded just today that are unsettling me. We have already instructed soliciter etc as in a v ideal world want a quick sale..wishful thinking I know. .

Honestly Sylviecat until you have had a survey done they will keep marketing the property. The best thing is just to ignore the RM listing and crack on with your own part of the buying process.

ThePerfectNegroni · 05/09/2014 07:23

The key thing is if they are allowing viewings. If they are, tell them to get stuffed as they are going to mess you about as you made a decent offer with one condition.

Interestingly we viewed our house before it went on Rightmove (agent called us up before they'd done the brochure). Our offer was asking price and we stipulated it wasn't to be marketed anywhere, which they have honoured.

LIZS · 05/09/2014 07:24

rm is often a few days behind.

eurochick · 05/09/2014 07:28

Holdthepage, that's not true at all. If your offer is conditional on it being taken off the market and that offer is accepted, that is what should happen. I only ever make offers on this basis. It reduces the chances of gazumping.
