Tiny weeny London studio flats

Prompted by an article in The Guardian this weekend I have been looking at tiny over priced London flats.
I'm sorry to London people if this is like some kind of poverty tourism, but seriously, look at the tiny tiny places for a zillion pounds.
Some of them don't even have their own bathrooms!

Yikes. Although I suppose they're quite often used as city crash-pads for those workers based elsewhere. Much cheaper than a kensington hotel.

Tangoandcreditcards · 30/08/2014 13:37

I don't think they are mostly used as crash pads. I looked at v similar flats getting on for 10 yrs ago (at £650 PCM) and one v like the last one, same location had 4 people living in. I can't imagine that's changed. Sad

I've definitely been in London too long... I'm half Shock that is outrageous and half ooh £80pcm's not bad.

sydd · 30/08/2014 13:41

£800pcm obv. Even my phone can't believe the prices.

The first one - where does the telly go, or are you supposed to watch the kettle boil for entertainment?

The second one is not much worse than places I rented as a student - although better kitchen facilities - and about the size of most nurses homes.

Pipbin · 30/08/2014 13:51

The first one has the shower next to the cooker!

As you say, they are not unlike student rents, but they cost so damn much!

Yes, tell me again, my son paid £200 per week (private student accommodation) for a pigeon hole three years ago, that is to say 4½ weeks pcm. That's even more expensive than my mortgage!

ChangeIsNear · 30/08/2014 14:33

Yes tell me about, it is absolutely ridiculous but many are sadly still stuck there.

peteneras · 30/08/2014 14:39

Yes, I'm afraid he's still stuck there for the next three years - medical student.

They are well posh areas though, esp the first two. May be mad to say it, but after moving to zone 4 for space/kids, I can see the appeal of a little pad 'where it's at' and living the life a bit again. Deluded sigh...
