We are (hopefully) a few weeks off starting on an extension to our ground floor flat.
We've had structural drawings and are waiting for party wall to be agreed.
Our current plans have an open plan kitchen living room, with bifold doors at one end. The kitchen is at the end by the doors, and there is a small peninsula on one side separating the living area. However I'm having real trouble planning the kitchen so it complies with all recommendations and that I'm still happy with the space.
I'm now wondering if it would be better to have a smaller french door opening to the garden, with a window with the sink under to one side and then the rest of the kitchen surfaces along the wall, meaning we don't need the peninsula and it's open to the rest of the room.
Does anyone know if this would mean we need to have the structural drawings redone? Or if it would affect anything else (eg the planning or party wall)? I was hoping that as the door is actually smaller it would make the structure stronger and so maybe we could just get the builder to make he changes without needing to inform anyone else?
Thanks in advance if anyone has any knowledge of this!
