I have large areas of the house (kitchen, dining room, bedroom, hall) that need repainting. Usually I do pure brilliant white, but am up for trying something new.

Please recommend your favourite white and I'll go and get some testers!

Wimborne White (colour copied to Johnsons matt emulsion)

Ladycurd · 30/08/2014 08:04

Dulux almond white. Lovely warm white not magnolia!

TheAmyrlin · 30/08/2014 08:07

Dulux apple white. Nice fresh colour.

StairsInTheNight · 30/08/2014 08:38

Thank you. Bumping for more suggestions.

Marking place I'm doing my hall stairs and landing next week when dc are at school

Usually use contract white from wickes but it can be a bit stark

StairsInTheNight · 30/08/2014 08:52

Yes, kids back to school is going to be painting time here too!

I am going to be using pure brilliant white satinwood on the doors etc. And spraying the hideous brass door handles with oil rubbed bronze spray which I have used previously (until I can buy proper bronze handles- v expensive!).

Dulux (must be trade though) Jasmin white. Lovely restful warm white.

Marmitelover55 · 30/08/2014 10:55

Dulux Timeless - lovely shade Grin

shaska · 30/08/2014 11:15

Little Greene, Shirting.

Posh wanker brand I know, but best white in the world IMO. Somehow so soft, and yet so very very white.

gatewalker · 30/08/2014 11:19

Wimborne White from Farrow & Ball.

Pinkfrocks · 30/08/2014 12:31

We like one by Morris (William Morris) now owned by Sanderson- in Alabaster- white with a creamy ivory hint.
Or farrow and ball have many-

SwedishEdith · 30/08/2014 12:43

Crown Sail White is lovely. Not creamy at all just chalky white

80sMum · 30/08/2014 16:27

Dulux vanilla mist no. 3

CointreauVersial · 30/08/2014 21:08

Crown Milk White

Lelivre · 31/08/2014 07:41

I'm interested in this too, I would like I warm bright white as opposed to a bluey white.

Shirting Little Green (we got a dulux trade colour matched version)

Sandthorn · 31/08/2014 19:07

Utterly devoid of inspiring name, but johnstones/leyland S 0502-R50B is, for me, the holy grail of white paints: bright, chalk white; cool and fresh, but without a trace of blue; responds beautifully to the colours around it, and we've paired it with greys, greens, creams, yellows. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Just used Craig and Rose 'Broken White' in my hallway - gorgeous!

lazysummer · 01/09/2014 00:50

Pointing- Farrow and Ball. You can use for walls and skirting etc. It also looks good on walls with brilliant white gloss, which is just as well, as I couldn't be bothered to repaint acres of glossy skirting.

PrimalLass · 01/09/2014 09:12

Dulux Timeless

Lelivre · 01/09/2014 13:40

Lazy summer - if it is for walls and woodwork what is the finish like please? Saves all that cutting in which slows things down!

crazykat · 01/09/2014 13:49

Dulux lilac white, apple white, blossom (I think) white etc. They have a slight hint of colour in the white which make it less stark.

I've started using shadow gloss on woodwork as it lasts longer than white gloss before it needs re-doing.

MrsHowardRoark · 01/09/2014 13:53

Valspar Coconut Juice, it's lovely.

It's an off white but somehow has a really classy feel to it. For white paint.

AWombWithoutARoof · 01/09/2014 13:54

Crown Milk White. I have loads of it.
