Anyone have a Brita tap installed

We are in the middle of an extension at the moment. We live in a hard water area and have a water filter jug at the moment. It irritates me as no-one fills it up apart from me and I must have filtered water for my cups of tea otherwise there is a load of crap floating on the top.

So we were thinking of having a Brita tap installed where you have 3 taps - normal hot & cold water and a filtered water tap. It says the filter cartridge lasts for 3-6 months and it costs £45. I can't decide if it is worth it. Anyone have one?

Yes. I got fed up with brita jugs too, always a mess, always filling it up, it did my head in.
So now have a brita tap and it is soooooo easy. You can buy the filters for it off Amazon here
It may look expensive but it lasts 6 months plus.

Also if you have a problem with the tap at all (which we did 3 years after having it installed!) just ring Brita and they send you spare parts! (The fault was just really wear and tear, nothing to wrry about.)

My parents had one, but when Mum had the kitchen refitted, she didn't have it put back in.

I was never tempted to have one tbh. The flow was sooooo slow!

*they send you spare parts for free is what I meant, they are really helpful.

We have one. Put in by previous owners. I never use it. The flow is slow and I don't mind the tap water.

We had a pozzani one at our old house. I loved it and will be getting another one when we redo our kitchen

When you say the flow was slow was that the flow in the filtered water tap or in all the taps? Did you find that too Roussette?

I shall google pozzani.

How it works is this.... central in the tap/spout is a smaller outlet for drinking water (the brita bit) so yes the water doesn't gush out for the filtered water as if you were turning on the hot or cold non filtered water.

I have to say... because our water is scummy and has almost grit on the bottom as it comes from a local spring (apparently!), I don't care, I just like filtered water on tap as it were!

The pozzani one is cheaper to buy and the cartridges are cheaper, so I shall investigate that one further!

Thanks Roussette. I can cope with slow filtered water. For filling a saucepan I would use the normal tap anyway.

this tap is similar to ours.

If you look at the spout you can see the smaller spout inside? Although ours doesnt show like that.

Can I ask if anyone has a Brita tap with a water softener installed as well?
Also in a hard water area & really don't want tap, sink & worktop to be scaled up/constantly being descaled.

These magnetic things that you attach to the water pipes are supposed to be good Pinkfizzy
I haven't heard much about them really, but my friend has bought me one and I intend to try it out.

Thanks for the idea Solo; I have it and unfortunately it hasn't made any visible difference here.

To Pinkfizzy yes! Our whole house is water softened because of the hardness of our water. So our drinking water comes from the Brita tap in the kitchen or american fridge. It just works for us. And oh my, I never have to clean a shower door or a kettle!

Oh! that's disappointing! Pink

Fancy the water softener just for the less cleaning aspect! Grin

I've got one. I love it.

We live in a hard water area. We drink lots of tea, coffee, water (constant visitors round here!) A filter lasts about 4 months.

It lasted for 3 months when DS was using it for hand washing too Shock

Yes the flow is slow but more than good enough for drinks of water, kettle, coffee maker etc.

I definitely would not advise getting a Brita tap. My £300 tap broke after 2 years. BRITA advised me they would send out free replacement parts but I was liable for labour costs. To make matters worse I was told it was likely this would keep happening but they wouldn't refund. Cartridges also started of at £34.99 but quickly moved to nearly £60. If you want filtered water a jug is much more cost effective and has far less chance of things going wrong. The leaky tap ruined my granite worktops!

I guess you weren't happy then mazza...

Haha! You could say that! Their extended guarantee is also only 3 years.... most other taps (even Wickes and B&Q own brand) are 10 years!!! The benefits of hindsight! 😔😣
