Bottom up blinds? Anyone have any experience???

Hello all

Have just had a new kitchen built and kitchen fitted.

As part of the building work had an existing window taken out and a much bigger one put in its place.

Thus creating a huge light kitchen.

My dilemma is although we are not over looked, passers by can see straight through our kitchen/dinner into the garden.

I don't want to put a blind in, or have a pole half way up with some kind of net.

Is there another way?, allow light in and me to see out without every tom, dick and harry looking in???

I've seen on Internet bottom up blinds? Seem to be a more modern approach to the bar and net curtain??

Anyone have one? Know of them? Recommend a company?

We had one in our old house, it solved exactly the problem you describe. Got ours from John Lewis but it was a good few years ago.

Is it not a bit of a dust trap and pain to clean? I've though about one but I don't like the gubbins being at the bottom. It's more visible there than at the top and also dust will settle on it.

Spaniel, you can also get blinds that are more opaque at the bottom and more diaphanous at the top.

Or what about window film?

My Mum got some for her kitchen, hers are slightly glossy so very easy to wipe clean. She got them from Hillarys and though they were a bit ££ they were exactly what she wanted.

And wrt cleaning they sit in a frame that attaches to the existing window frame so are pretty much invisible when open and can also go from the top if she wants.

Iirc they are actually sold as conservatory blinds.
