help choosing green dulux kitchen paint for a feature wall

We spent months choosing paint for our kitchen walls and finally decided on Gooseberry Fool 5 having seen it in my friend's kitchen and thinking how gorgeous it looked!

However, it looks so much lighter in our kitchen and doesn't look anything special and we've realised this is because our kitchen is bigger with more windows and light. We also have two skylights at one end of our kitchen creating extra light which makes the colour look nearly white in some areas.

We are going to brighten things up by having a feature wall (and keeping the GF5 on the other walls) and wondered if anyone had any advice on which green colours will go well with our GF5, and cherry cabinets.

We love Overtly Olive and the other shades of GF but just can't visualise and think it will look too dark. The feature wall will be a window wall so the colour will not be against the cabinets but still not sure??

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you.

Nothing we say will help. You need to get testers and put them on YOUR walls, in YOUR house, with YOUR light!

Sorry. I love discussing colours.. But bottom line is it's down to the light in your particular space.

I saw your thread title in active convos and popped in to suggest Overtly Olive Smile

Pp is right though. It depends entirely on your room. Put some on the walls for a week and see what you think then.

Thank you minkah. Yes, had the tester on the walls but it looked darker so thought I'd go for it. I am going to try a few more in darker shades for our feature wall and try to visualise a bit more.

I've just put overtly olive on a kitchen feature wall (big chimney breast). I think it looks good. I've got natural hessian on the others walls and to the side of it.

I am not a fan of feature walls. I would far rather add colour with blinds or kitchen accessories. You avoid all this angst too!

Coincidently I purchased a few tester pots yesterday and Overtly Olive was one of them (looking to paint my kitchen cupboards). Don't know if it will help but here are each of the colours we looked at side by side. These are a mix of Dulux but mainly Wickes colours. Excuse the Natural Calico splurges, that one exploded my face when I opened it!

Have you used the Dulux website's colour visualiser thing? You can upload a photo and 'paint' your own walls twenty million times in any colour. It doesn't give 100% accuracy, our chosen colour looked a tiny bit darker in real life but it gave us a better idea than the hundreds of tester pots did Grin

AnnOnymity, can I ask what colour your cabinets and worktop are? My original post should have said I was concerned about these darker greens appearing too dark with our cherry cabinets and black/grey worktop. If I had a white kitchen I wouldn't hesitate to use Overtly Olive but against the cherry wood and dark tops I'm not sure! Perhaps I should paint my cupboards white! I agree Overtly Olive looks great with Natural Hessian as I have seen this combo in a kitchen.

I will have a look at the Dulux Visualiser too, thanks!

Thanks for the photo Merel!

Oak cupboards (not painted)
Pale corian worktops (beigey colour with white and olive flecks - nicer than it sounds)
Dark green aga
Mixture of brown and greyey brown tiles (mostly v pale with some dark brown thrown in)
Very pale tiles on the floor (similar colour to the work surfaces)

The Dulux app is great. I hadn't even thought of using olive until I tried that out. I was just going to do everything in natural hessian or calico.
