Limestone for a bathroom floor?

I'm dithering. Originally wanted a porcelain tile that looks like marble but thought it might be too slippery & hard to keep clean.
Quite like the look of those tiles that look like wood but DH not keen.
I can get limestone at a reasonable price.
Having UFH, plain white tiles on the walls.
Any opinions?

Oh dear, is it a stupid idea?

We've just done it. My sister had loads left over after doing her kitchen so we tiled our small ensuite with the left overs. I remember husband saying the sealant worked out quite expensive and I think he put a couple of treatments on. Looks very nice though!

Great, thanks weasel.

Forgot to ask, how do you clean it?
Stone supplier told me not to use flash or a steam mop.
no chance of getting down on hands & knees with scrubbing brush

Is it a concrete floor?

Bathroom cleaners that remove limescale will also dissolve limestone and marble, it is the same thing.

We used to have a limestone floor in a previous house's bathroom. Looked lovely but too high maintenance - I was paranoid about accidently dropping the wrong cleaner on it and marking it. Can't be doing with flooring that requires special treatment, although it depends on how anal you are about cleaning. We used special limestone floor cleaner, then topped up with a sealant-type product.

We had no UFH so it was cold as well.

I have limestone in 4 bathrooms. No problems but it must be sealed very well. It only gets water on it after all!

We have it in a small ensuite shower room. Looks lovely but I think you do need ufloor heating with it and it needs to be sealed. Cleaning is just a quick mop over - never had any problems - been down 5 years. (Having said that we have electric ufloor heating and I do wonder what will happen when/if it inevitably goes wrong - it's freezing without it on!)

Thanks. I think I'll go with it, hoping it will be fairly timeless.
UFH in situ & fully prepared to seal annually.

As long as you can commit to sealing it atleast twice a year and buy a good quality one in the first place and install it on a stable surface it will last a long time.

We have one; it looks lovely. Be careful with limestone remover (I spilt some once). We wash with washing up liquid or just dust. It's a good choice for the floor. (We also have limestone in showers, which is more tricky to keep clean)
