Built in microwaves in non built in microwaves carcasses

Is this possible?

I've a wall unit that I'd like to put a microwave in. If I buy an integrated microwave can I just slip the microwave onto the shelf, or are per built microwave carcasses deeper?

Is this making any sense?

The kitchen is howdens.

Not recommended. Normal microwaves vent from the top and bottom. Integrated ones from the back. You could end up overheating the appliance or wrecking the carcase. Or both.

wall units are usually 300mm deep, which is not enough.

Appliances usually go into floor tower units, which are 600mm deep and 600mm wide.
