I'm being stupid about a sink I think!

I need to get a laundry sink for our utility cupboard room. I want a single big sink, butler sink thing really I suppose. I need to put cat food underneath it so can't put it in a full unit, so I was thinking of something sort of freestanding. I'm looking on ebay and I just can't see anything that fits that. Does it exist at all? If not, can I get a unit that just holds the sink and fits into the wall? It's a narrow space with not much more than 60cm width so it has to be a single sink, as deep as possible. Obviously with something freestanding I need taps attached.

It's all being fitted by professionals so can be complicated to do!

Do you mean something like this?

TooSpotty · 12/08/2014 15:15

Yes! I was hoping someone else would be cleverer than me. I need one without a shelf though so the cats can get underneath. So I need to search for 'stand'. Honestly, my brain was just not working on this.

Or I could just reuse our old wooden work surface and do this, I suppose?

I googled freestanding sinks and got several stainless steel options (for laboratories, pro kitchens etc). Or this belfast sink

Oh fabulous, thank you. I promise, I'm normally better at working things out than this.

If you're really fixed on a butler/belfast sink, I think you'll struggle to find some floating sink fixings that would hold it without any support underneath because those sinks are so bloody heavy.

TooSpotty · 12/08/2014 15:25

I'm happy to have a stainless steel one if necessary. It's more the size I want than the look. I've got a few choices on here I think. Thanks for all the advice.

Glad to help. Sorry, didn't mean to suggest you were an inadequate googler, just wanted you to know how to get to the stainless options without me linking.

Have a google for 'wall mounted' or 'wall hung' Belfast sink. This is one of the examples I found...

We have a belfast sink in our utility room which is mounted on two small brick 'walls'. It was obviously done some time ago. I hate belfast sinks - would much rather have a stainless steel one with a draining board, but we have other priorities to sort around the house.

TooSpotty · 12/08/2014 16:04

No, not at all, nemno! I'm just feeling a bit embarrassed that after weeks spent hunting down things for this kitchen, I have hit a wall on this sodding sink.

Thanks, imme. It'll be against a stud wall so I'm not sure whether I can wall mount. I'll ask the experts.

Wowfudge, I'm going for a large sink for soaking and washing clothes and don't have space for a drainer. Otherwise I'd agree!

keep me posted please, looking for exactly the same. they had one in Ikea, but discontinued it gahhh

wowfudge · 12/08/2014 16:21

Hey - not a criticism TooSpotty, I just realised that what we have could work for you despite my own take on it!

TooSpotty · 12/08/2014 16:27

No criticism taken at all, wowfudge. My sink desperation is making me sound oddly chippy!
