What is the point of the Which? website?

Have just signed up for a months trial of Which? reviews. Buying new appliances for kitchen and wanted to see what the reviews were like of some of the ovens, hobs, fridges and freezers I've been looking at. I'm really dissappointed though by the website.

First of all I want to get a built in combi microwave and they only review two different models. Second I go to the reviews of induction hobs - their best buy is a Whirlpool model - gets an 83% rating - but when you click on all the user reviews submitted by people who have the hob, it is almost universally panned (if you'll pardon the pun).

So it really doesn;t feel like I'm going to get much useful insight from this site - where should I go for better reviews of kitchen applicances?

Know what you mean; so often I look at their best buys then their real life reviews full of people who relied totally on the which best buy table and regretted it. Sometimes which? come on and answer with some communication about the problem from the manufacturer. However, I think that their general info is good in terms of features explained and I now triangulate between Which, John Lewis reviews & Amazon for the main part, tempered with lots of questions on mumsnet. Mumsnet comes into its own being a live forum where you can get answers to your specific questions, which you can then follow through in real life.

I have recently discovered the ask a question of an owner feature on amazon, which is amazing as well, as the questions go to other people who have that exact thing, so even more precisely directed than mumsnet. Course, you still get the pointless answers like ' I bought it for my Granny in Dundee, so have no actual idea' which is goodhearted, but futile!

Sigh - i was hoping to avoid having to hop around too many sites - i'm already going boggle-eyed trying to do comparisons between all the different models and prices! i may just give up at some point and buy everything from Ikea....

I bought a washing machine that was a which best buy. It is a piece of shit. Now looking at reviews on other sites people are having the same problems as me. The problem with which is that they don't test things for an extended period of time. So while their reviews are good at comparing features you do need reviews of owners to see if the appliances go wrong after a while.

I've had good experiences with appliances that were recommended by Good Housekeeping Magazine. I think they call themselves Good Housekeeping Institute.

I just bought one of the ones recommended by appliances online. I liked their website.

Reviews on ao.com and Argos are as good as any IME - I know what you mean about Which?, but at least they do update their reviews over time when members find issues and communicate them to them.

I don't know but what I have gleaned from feedback here there and everywhere is; buy German if you can afford to and get john lewis to price match.
