White grout on a bathroom floor. Yes or no?

Will it become the bane of my life? Are there grouts which don't stain?

I'd be really grateful for any advice before we go ahead. Thanks wise mumsnettersSmile

It'll get really grubby. Floor grout is usually grey for this reason.

I'd say no, it will stain no matter what you do, you will be forever trying to clean it and it will annoy the hell out of you every time you see it.

I made this mistake once - never again :)

Doh I thought I'd be told that! Thanks though, best that I know now.

I like these tiles. Would it look odd to have grey grout on the floor and white for the walls?Confused

I have similar tiles on my bathroom floor although matt rather than polished. My tiler found some grout in a colour called "dove white" - it's a very pale grey and looks lovely.

Sounds lovely KatySmile do you have it on the walls too?

I get in such a tizz over tiles. Having made a mistake once which had to be changed, I have no confidence.

We have white on the walls, I think having both looks fine!

I would have thought you'd be OK, ime grout gets dirty from shoes/pets and food none of which I'd guess you'd have in the bathroom. Wouldn't any spills be from something designed for cleaning and unlikely to stain?

I do have three teens though and their potential for causing me cleaning headaches never ceases to amaze me Hmm

but in the bathroom you have
dead skin cells
couloured fluff from towels and clothes
hair
general house dust

so no, they will not stay white for long.

Think Ill rethink this. I don't want to set myself up for something else to be wrestling with on the housework front.

I'm going to ask for the grout lines to be as thin as possible though.
