About two weeks ago went into bathroom and found a trail of water on the bathroom floor cleaned it up and placed bits of toilet paper round the toilet to see where the water was coming from but no luck was dry for days till this week been away on holiday and my brother was keeping a eye on the house he had noticed the water on the floor again
He had found the number of the plumber the letting agents use (I'm in a private let) and phoned him he got told he had to phone the landlord first before he could come out that was days ago
Came home yesterday and the smell from the bathroom was horrible you could tell I had been leaking not wanting to wait I phoned a plumber my self found out it looks like the toilet was put in quickly and unlucky for me started to show problems now he managed to fix it and put in a new valve although the question is how long is that going too last if it goes again something about a new one need to be put in

What I want to know is if the toilet is leaking etc is that safe especially the smell ? I'm currently waiting on a council home/waiting to move back home

Toilets are pretty easy to put in - do you know exactly what he replaced? If it was just the bit that joins the porcelain loo to the soil pipe, replacing will have solved your problem forever. To be honest, if I had a problematic loo anywhere else I wouldn't bother fannying about fixing it, I'd just pull it out and replace it. Bog in a box from Wickes is only £50 - cheaper than a plumber generally.
