Bamboo flooring in kitchen

We've had some samples of bamboo flooring sent to us. It looks lovely but quite light coloured. Would I be mad to fit it in a kitchen? Has anyone got any?
It's supposed to be quite hardwearing but what if I spill curry sauce on it?
Also, is it easy to lay or should I be getting a joiner in?
The floor is currently tiled. 1980s house.
Thanks

we have it in our hallway. it's bombproof and with 2 pre schoolers. we don't have the lighter shade, but there are no scratches, and everything wipes off really easily

We put bamboo down in our bedroom and love it. It's very hardwearing, doesn't seem to stain easily and is relatively easy to install yourself (we used the Uniclic boards that don't need nailing, they're great.). I want to get it throughout the house, including the kitchen.

Cool! Thank you. Yes I think the samples we have got are uniclic. Perhaps we wont need a joiner after all. Yes, the whole house would be nice. Hate laminate! We are thinking of using www.simplybamboo.co.uk
So noone has any horror stories then?

We used simply bamboo twice. They are very good. Easy to lay, very hard wearing. Just be careful about getting it wet.

Lots of nice dark shades too.

Oooooh bamboo........off to google it!

We have it in the kitchen. It has been fine. Yes it's moisture resistant. But don't get it regularly wet. I had a bamboo mat with a nonslip back down for most of the 9 yrs we have had it. It will mark/dent a bit. So a mat near the sink or other high traffic area is perhaps a good idea.

oh gosh, careful about getting it wet? So you can't mop it! Our kitchen regularly has puddles by the sink and kids' drink spillages. What happens when it gets wet? Does it stain dark, or turn to mush or something?
Feeling a bit more cautious now, but thanks the advice.

of course it's moppable! we are the least careful family in the world and our hallway looks line new.

We have had it down in the hall for about 3 years and it is brilliant. 3 children, massively high traffic area, 2 not very careful / clean adults and it looks good still. It has scratched but its kind of added to the appearance. That's is quite a dark colour. We have just had laid it in a new kitchen diner and used simply bamboo. We have the coffee coloured horizontal type and its lovely. Brilliant to clean. We have split already, had puddles and you just wipe them up. I think it you left standing water on it for a period of time it would be at risk of warping but otherwise its great. I don't know how the uniclic works, the hall is nailed down to stop it moving and the kitchen is too as far as we can (part is concrete so couldn't there) but gives it a better finish.

I have it in bathrooms too and you can tell at the joins where it has become wet on a regular basis but that's after almost 10 yrs. probably no one else would notice.
