Two single ovens stacked

I've ordered my new kitchen. I have a unit for a microwave stacked over a double oven. I'm having second thoughts. I'm thinking of having two single ovens instead - partially because I'd have more oven space and partially because I can't find a pyrolitic double oven. It would have to go in the same unit so I would have two single ovens and a microwave stacked together. The bottom oven would have to be low, like an undercounter oven. Would this look odd? Would it look unbalanced to have a cupboard above the stack but none below? Opinions welcome :-)

The project manager from the kitchen company is prone to drama so I'm trying to see past his objections.

IMO, it would look a bit weird but if it is the best use of the space available to you then you should do it.

My dh done one like this before xmas, not long had the photos back
Its a supply only and it has 1 x single oven, q x steam oven and a warming drawer. So is the same as 2 x single ovens.
Its the 1st pics on the link

Thanks for the link anna. That's really helpful. The two ovens look fine together. Mine would also have a microwave on top which it's probably pushing it a bit far.

I'm inclined to agree with you peoples·

if your having 2300 high appliance house (with plinth) it can work with the microwave.
if your having the normal height it wont work as well.
with the 2300 high you can have a 283 drawer delow and 283 door above (if its a normal microwave) not a 45cms high one

burnishedsilver · 09/07/2014 16:26

The unit height is 2300 Anna but it is a 45cm high microwave. Its an existing one that I'm reusing. In the current kitchen the bottom of the built in microwave is 141cm from the floor. If it went more than a few cms higher I'm not sure I'd be able to reach it comfortably when using it.

If you have two ovens, do you end up with two clocks?

Artandco · 09/07/2014 17:11

Get one regular over and one microwave oven. Then no need for extra microwave

burnishedsilver · 09/07/2014 17:54

Yes Pico, 2 clocks and two sets of dials.

I'm sure you've thought of this but just in case you've already had electrics done, I thought I'd mention that depending on oven they each may need their own fixed supply.

burnishedsilver · 09/07/2014 18:04

Thanks Judge. The electrics aren't done yet so i'm ok there. The kitchen had to be ordered well in advance so its ready to go but it wont be fitted for another month.
I'm trawling though Houzz.com. I've found a picture of an oven that looks the same size as two single ovens and I think it looks ok with the microwave and a cupboard above.

What about a combination microwave oven? We have one of those, a normal oven and a warming drawer in a stack. I don't much like it, mind, but it looks smart and doesn't take up much space.

If I could redo my kitchen I would have a built in microwave, and two single ovens ... but I'd have them somehow horizontally (or microwave next two two single ovens stacked) all at eye height. Does that make sense?

happylittlevegemites · 09/07/2014 18:24

Ps - I like the two clocks. I have one set to Australian EST.

wonkylegs · 09/07/2014 18:50

We've got two single neff ovens stacked - just because that's what I wanted. I've got a slide & hide at the top & standard one at the bottom - which means even short arse (4'11") me can reach in the top oven.
Our kitchen was made by a joiner so the carcasses are all made to fit but in terms of fitting it just required 2 plugs.
2 clocks & 2 timers actually works out as quite useful & 2 full size ovens is so much better than the double I had before.

Thanks wonky. I've decided to do it. I'll order the ovens today.

By the way, your joiner did a lovely job :-)

Hi, I know you posted this a while ago... I am soon to have two single ovens fitted. Can you tell me the distance from the floor that you bottom oven is. Our fitters has suggested 35cm from the floor - but that feels low. I am finding it hard to imagine. Yours look perfect - I am 5ft 3in!! Also, I have gone for side opening ovens, which I hope will make life easier. Thanks in advance.
