Thinking of getting one when we have a new range - it will be a gas hob. Dh not keen because he thinks they're slow with no automatic cut off therefore unsafe? Any opinions/recommendations?? Ta!

He's right.
They look lovely, admittedly.

Oh bums!! Even on a double burner ring - they would heat up quicker then surely?!

We have one on an induction hob and it is very fast. I'm not in the habit of leaving the kitchen whilst it boils but the rather loud whistles will call me back rapidly if I do. I like the fact we save space on the worktop.

We used to have one on a gas hob. It did heat up and boil pretty quickly but the lack of automatic cutoff was a huge pain when I'd nipped quickly to do something else and the whistle was screaming away.

Personally I wouldn't have one again.

Same as Bryte - we have a stove top with a whistle on an induction range hob. It's so quick. Cheaper by far and saves on worktop space. I'm not physics expert but water seems hotter as well (as entire thing heated more equally I think?!).

We have a stove top one on a gas hob, I think it boils quicker. No, there's no cut off, but it whistles very loudly and how far away are you going to be if you are waiting for a kettle to boil?

We've got one. It works fine but baffles family members and guests!
