Sewing room?

Just browsing RightMove as always and came across a property which has a room labelled on the floor plan as sewing room! I'm intrigued as to how/why they decided on that label, rather than calling it say, another bedroom.

I don't really care though, I just want one....

I've got one!!!

DSD went to uni and I had first dibs on the room Grin plus its my job.

I've got a sewing room; it's also used as a guest room when we have visitors.

Would you describe it as one on an estate agents floor plan though? I can understand having a sewing room, it's just officially calling it that seemed a bit odd!

We pretend mine is an office. I am letting DH use it at the minute to work in, so it's almost right. We'd probably pitch it as an office or a child's bedroom if we sold. It's the box room in a thirties semi, so teeny.

Jealous! I am planning to move Ds to the attic room where his drum kit is, then I can have his room as a sewing room / office for DH / spare room. Would love a house where it was already called a sewing room!

That's what I'm thinking fab, if they've got so many rooms they've already used up study/office/drawing room etc and got to the realms of sewing room - that's the house I want!

I dream of a quilting studio big enough for a long arm quilting machine

But funny for labelling it as I'd have thought that's a bit restrictive?

It is also completely unacceptable not to post a link!!! Is there a picture?

I've got a sewing room :o and tbh if we ever sold our house it might well go on the details as that or an office. We have 5 bedrooms plus my sewing room (which is technically a double or twin room itself), and people tend to get a bit scared off by too many rooms without a defined purpose - how many guest rooms do you need, exactly?!

Sorry Mothership, unforgivable of me!! ,Here's the link - had to browse around again to find it!

It could be down to planning, eg if it's in an attic/conversion over the garage and not part of the original build, it might not technically meet planning regs so can't be called a bedroom, so it has to be an attic room, study, sewing room, etc.

I think sewing rooms are a traditional room to have in a house, they tend to have good light. You also often see morning rooms (ditto good light)

LizzieMint · 09/07/2014 21:15

It's an Edwardian house, so that makes sense weedonleg - I'd feel like I'd have to sit in my crinoline with my tapestry in there. (are crinolines edwardian?)

It's mine! I could almost afford that, it's valued for the same as my tiny terrace house! Shock

I wonder if it belongs to a quilter, check out the quilt in pic 6. Actually I'd convert the garage to a quilting studio and set up a long arm quilting business. Now just need a job for DH and convince DC they want to move to the middle of nowhere...

GemmaTeller · 10/07/2014 09:30

I love that house!!
