Floor to bath and basin measurements please ?

Dear wise ones

What's the normal distance from the floor to the top of a bath and basin in a UK bathroom ? I'm trying to work out how many tiles I need in a new bathroom and don't really want a snitty bit of tile here and there, so planning to adjust heights accordingly within reason...

TIA

There are lots of tile calculators on the web - you have to build in something like an extra 10% to allow for cutting, breakages and a few spares. It's going to depend on whether you are half tiling, fully tiling, just doing splashbacks or some sort of combination.

Unfortunately unless your walls are completely true and exactly measure a multiple of your chosen tile width you can't avoid those 'snitty bits' - it's more about placement in the main focal areas so your eye is drawn to a complete well-placed tile or the centre of the pattern. Also bear in mind that a bath is fitted to drain at the plug and the floor may be uneven, skirting boards may mean that you can't have whole tiles from the top of the skirting to your chosen point above the sink and so on. It could look worse not to cut tiles in some places as you can end up with the proportions not looking right iyswim.

Sorry I read my post back and it wasn't clear. What I'd like to know is do you mount a sink at 29 inches or 36 inches or somewhere in between ? And for the bath there's presumably some height that just isn't comfortable for stepping into. Once I know these I can choose skirting board heights to make the tiling space easier..

Thanks
