Getting in a muddle with shower trays & spray depth

DH really wants walk in showers. We're having trays with tiling on the side & the end and a sheet of plain glass on the other long side.
If the trays are 1200 long (with the shower head on the short return) can we get away without having a glass screen on the end?
Aesthetics are important but equally I don't want endless water spray all over the floor.
Any advice/experience welcome, thank you.

I think at 1200 you'd get some water coming out. Our shower is about the same length as a bath (1700) and that would be ok, the end wall never gets wet. But at 1200 I think there'd be at least some splashing.

Rather as I feared, thanks.

AMum have had a check & we could squeeze in 1400, would that be enough do you think?

I'll try to think about in the shower in the morning! I think it maybe depends just how bad it would be if there was a small amount of spray - I don't think you'd have water 'flowing' out onto your floor even at 1200 but it's hard not to have any splashing. But if a light misting wouldn't cause a problem, then 1400 is probably enough, and maybe even 1200 would be fine too.

Thanks mum, much appreciated. We're having overhead roses which should reduce the spray depth.
I've been googling 'how long should shower glass be?' without much success.

I deffo think you are going to have spray with a 1.2 m shower tray. If aesthetics are important, Matki do good, heavy screens with a folding bit to keep the water in.

Thanks. I'll have to re think the designs.

depends on the water pressure too - a pumped shower will make more spray than a non pumped one !

rhubarbcrumbleplease · 05/07/2014 10:50

It's a 'high pressure system' whatever that means. I know we don't need pumps.

the higher the pressure the wider the spray goes !

and I would recommend getting a hose as well as a ceiling rose (easier to clean your bits, hair and the shower itself).

OK shower spray people; my shower is going to be on one end of a wall 1.65m long. Could I put one of those tall revolving storage units at the other end of the wall without it getting soaked? (the shower will also be a fixed head (on a riser). Really want a spacious shower but also want storage!
