Exciting question about land use

Is was wondering if anyone know if it is possible to challenge a change of land use.

The piece of land I'm interested in was formally D1 but has been changed to housing. The change was based on the fact that there would be another D1 site allocated but this has not occurred.

Help!

Speak to the local planning officer to get a steer.

I doubt it if it is part of a Local Plan process - the LA will need to allocate sites for housing to meeting their 5 year land supply targets.
If it was a planning application that led to the change of use then I don't think you can do anything unless the process was not followed correctly (JR).

Thanks, the site is owned by the local council and they haven't been very helpful in the matter.

The change of use was based on the idea that another D1 site would be created but this has not happened. But the decision was taken outside of the planning process.

Any idea how to challenge this?

If the council own the land I believe they grant their own planning permissions. I would assume the shortage of housing means they are unlikely to change it back. They probably need all the housing land they can get. A local plan, if there is one, might challenge this but again it is unlikely. Our local plan has just been thrown out because it provided for growth in employment but insufficient housing. The district council got it wrong and our Parish council based their plan on the District plan. Total shambles. However, insufficient housing was the problem!
