Adjusting fitted kitchen - help?

Hoping someone has some good advice for our kitchen problem!

We inherited our fitted kitchen from the previous house owners. Unfortunately they seem to have had a fondness for totally non-standard appliances, which are a nightmare to replace Angry

The latest one to die is the oven, which - it turns out - is a specially wide (70cm) double built-under one, which NOBODY seems to make except the company that made ours - which we ideally don't want to use again, for several reasons.

So it looks as though we will need to get the kitchen adjusted to fit a standard-size one, unless we can think of some other ideas. But I know nothing about kitchen fitting, so would like to get some idea of what would be involved, what it's likely to cost etc. The oven is in between the cupboards under the sink (normal units with normal cupboard doors) and a narrow pull-out unit at the end of the kitchen (but not easy to move in as it joins onto a step).

Also, the doors are a sort of mid-oak colour (I think...) but as they are quite old now, I think they have faded a bit. So I was also a bit worried about whether we would be able to get any extra bits the right colour to match that?

Thank you!

can you replace the oven with a std 60cm one and two 5m stainless steel infills either side maybe.

hahaha 5cm not 5m !!

You would probably be better off removing the old kitchen and fitting a new one.

Thanks! I like the stainless steel idea, that could look quite smart! Guess I will need to look for a good kitchen fitter in the area and talk to them about it. That might be easier than trying to colour-match the old cabinets.

I would love to replace the whole kitchen, but don't think we can spend that amount of money at the moment on top of already having to replace the oven (and possibly the washing machine which has just packed up too, great timing!).

You wont be able to colour match the cabinets.

Your best bet is 2 filler pieces as suggested. Its not worth removing and refitting the kitchen to close such a small gap. A handyman should be able to do it.

Thanks, I will get onto looking for a good handyman as soon as the washing machine is working again! That will have to take first priority now though, as we can still cook on the hob but will soon run out of clothes else Grin
