Breakfast bar

I am looking to increase the worktop space in the kitchen which is L-shaped. Could I continue worktop around the corner along the third wall where the radiator is currently located? It's a laminate worktop but would it be damaged by heat in any way? Would the heating of the room be affected? Would it be odd to be facing wall when eating? Currently have round kitchen table and 5 chairs but ideally need extra worktop space.

Thanks.

We have a breakfast bar which is above the only radiator in the room - it's laminate and is fine 2 years on.

I'm not sure I would want to face a wal eating though. Ours sticks out into the room and so we sit around it like a table.

Thanks jamais. Is it the same height as the rest of your worktop?

Yep we had a breakfast bar above a radiator.

I'm not a fan of the breakfast bar and much prefer a comfortable table abd chair.

No, ours is taller, but it's not attached to the rest of the worktop, it juts out from the wall. It's taller because we had to fit it over the radiator and so that dictated the height.

I agree that sitting on stools is not as comfortable as a table and chairs, but on the other hand, we don't have space for a table in our kitchen and LOVE being able to eat in there - it's so much quicker and easier than trekking stuff through to another room.

Here is my breakfast bar, it is above a radiator and you face the wall to eat.

We have had it a year when we had a kitchen extension done, it the same height as a normal worktop as it is parallel.

We only use it for breakfast as we have a dining room and use that for lunch and dinner.

Picture attached. We have white height adjustable stools from Ikea under it now, and it works really well for us.

We also had a bb above a radiator. Was fine, had it for 6 years. Took it out recently because we were knocking walls about and it didn't work in the new layout.

Thanks guys. That looks lovely contented. Very handy I'm sure. I decided to go for it. Builders built it yesterday with a small side return and it looks good with much needed extra worktop space.
