Can you comment on this house? Bit concerned that it has been on the market for 4 years (apparently). Otherwise ticks all boxes…

Thanks

Link doesn't work - try again as I am interested in Dumfries as well!

I don't think the fact that it's been on the market for so long necessarily means there is anything wrong with it.

My in-laws have been trying to sell their house in Dumfries for about three years. It is lovely, beautifully maintained, no structural problems etc but despite lowering the price to below what they bought it for (getting on for a decade ago) they have had no offers, I think because it is valued at £300k+ which for Dumfries is the top of the market.

I think the economy around Dumfries is just very depressed (the centre of town has declined noticeably) and there aren't buyers around for the upper end of the market.

Interesting exexpat. My inlaws have also been trying to sell for about 3 years, not in Dumfries though - they are looking at moving in from a more rural area. I assumed the market would be better in Dumfries.

We loved this house goo.gl/ocJFlG but needs too much work for them to take on.

There seems to be a lot of movement in the Dumfries market at around £180k or less, but very few sales at £300k+, and perhaps the asking price on the first house you linked to is just pushing it a bit when there are decent 4-bed houses available for £150k. I guess there just aren't enough well-paying jobs in the area for many people there to be able to afford the higher prices, and it is too far from any big cities to get people downsizing and commuting. My in-laws' house would cost more than twice what they are asking if it was in my area...
