house buying cold feet!

I'm sure this will pass. We are buying a house I really like, it ticks all the boxes but two (20 minutes further from friends, and it's not a mansion). I got some really bad family news at the weekend and then was premenstrual followed by a big disappointment... it's just been a difficult few days, and now I find myself sitting here thinking I don't really want the new house, it's too small, etc., argh! I'm not attached to my current house, really ready to move. Surely this is just cold feet?

It sounds like the events of the last few days have given you the wobbles - and it's not like house buying is a minor decision. Could you talk to your partner about how you feel? And remember, you could hold out for a property that ticks ALL the boxes but you could be waiting a long time

how far are you in the buying process? If not that far, why not view a few more houses? Are there other realistic options - bigger house but different area?
don't feel too guilty, people pull out very often, but of course it's not very nice to do it just before exchange! I think sometimes serious events do re-focus the mind, so worth paying attention to how you feel but not making instant decisions.
I'm having wobbles too, about the location, sometimes I'm positive and sometimes it's 'what an I doing!', very annoying. I wish now I had more time but I'm selling and feel like I can't delay any longer with my patient buyers. My vendors' sellers have just pulled out last minute though.
There's also an element of fate in these matters! If you view a few houses and suddenly love one, if not, then you'll be more sure of this one maybe, but if you do nothing you'd always wonder..

Have a good look on Zoopla/Rightmove? Is there really anything else on there that you'd want more than the house you're buying. If so, go back and have another look at the one you're trying to buy and see how you feel.
