Cool ideas for kitchen flooring?

AbbyCadabby · 29/05/2014 13:59

Hi

Getting the kitchen completely renovated. Going for white gloss units and a glass worktop.

Was just wondering if anyone had any bright ideas for flooring? Have researched rubber, but mixed reviews and not kean.
Karndean? Not loving the samples I've seen, but looking like the lead contender so far.
Don't want wood.

Any bright ideas please?

Budget is mid-range!

Ta.

For Karndean type flooring with some nice (and some "nice") designs, have a look at Harvey Maria.

Thank you!

Polished concrete with glass chips is beautiful...

Thanks. That does look fab, from what I can see online. I really need to see it for real though, I think.

We got our bathroom flooring from the Colour Flooring Company don't be put off that it's vinyl, it's very high quality vinyl and everyone remarks how amazing it looks. If you want a solid colour that's hardwearing I could highly recommend it (our bathroom is pink!).

Whatever you fo so not get white tiles! They were here when we move in and they are a pita to keep clean!

LaurieFairyCake · 29/05/2014 21:41

Have you got Pinterest?

Best idea I've ever seen is copper pennies. £1.44 a square metre.

Looks amazing

I would second polished concrete - and underfloor heating.

Thanks. The site doesn't load well for me. Have gotten to the home page, but can't view the ranges. Will try again.

Not going for white - cabinets are going to be white. And I am a slattern! :)

Yes, am I ever on Pinterest! Just not found a wow flooring yet. Wouldn't pennies be a pita to clean in between?

I do love this: www.toppstiles.co.uk/tprod44524/section887/FS-York - a lot, but the cost! Er, not so much! Anyone seen anything similar, for cheaper?

You can either grout or pour epoxy resin to seal it. Have you looked at the Google pictures? There's instructions too - looks really easy.

AbbyCadabby · 29/05/2014 22:11

I have seen! :) Still looking at options ...

Just out of interest, what sort of price would polished concrete be? I would have thought more than "mid-range", but I could be wrong. We had a look at poured resin floors - OMG so perfect, but also so very very spendy.

We have some solid colour vinyl in our loo, v smiliar to the one linked by hunkydorymum. However, we do find it shows dust much more than the Karndean that we have in another loo (which is wood-effect).

I would have though a completely solid colour kitchen floor would show up every crumb. Having said that we did give solid coloured vinyl serious consideration for bathroom and kitchen. It does look lush.

We have these tiles in grey. A concrete-ish look, and don't show the muck too easily (thank goodness....floor cleaning is not something I relish so it gets left...) www.cerviva.it/en/collections/nr-21/

Thanks for all the help.
May have found something suitable. Just waiting on a sample of it by post.

I would look at the Porcelanosa range of tiles which come in large format. They have ones which look like concrete but are ceramic. They work very well with underfloor heating and would look great with a modern kitchen.

Toospotty · 31/05/2014 15:36

Can I piggyback on this thread? I need kitchen flooring for a largish kitchen, so can't afford anything very expensive. We're having underfloor heating so it has to work with that. I'm not that keen on tiles - can't find anything I really like. Don't want lino. I was leaning to bamboo but the samples we've got feel very laminatey! Just wondering if there's a miracle product out there I haven't considered.

AbbyCadabby · 06/06/2014 11:53

Thanks, Milly.

toospotty, have you looked at Karndean?

Recently I have done epoxy floor coating in my kitchen by hiring a flooring contractor - Proseal Flooring from Toronto. I find the flooring process affordable as compared to the other brands of contractors.
