Trickle vents on sliding folding patio doors ?

We are about to place an order for folding sliding patio doors. We're going to go for triple glazing because it is a largeish area (4 metres wide).

Will we be undoing all the good work that triple glazing does by putting in trickle vents? It's for our kitchen/dining room.

I think you pretty much have to have them. Much better for damp and humidity issues. They can be opened or closed.

Just close them whenever you like.

Our window man doesn't have trickle vents on his ground floor.

Do you have wall vents?

PigletJohn · 28/05/2014 23:54

I don't know any good reason not to have trickle vents.

We don't have wall vents, no.

My previous experience of trickle vents is that draughts come through them whether they are open or not. We are very much "windows open" kind of people so ventilation isn't a problem. Our kitchen is on the ground floor which has a cement base - so a very cold room. We've put underground heating and insulated walls and are putting in triple glazing so that we can make this area liveable. I would love to hear your opinions on trickle vents.
