We're about to go on the market...

...and the house we want has just been sold! Eek

We've been hurrying to get our house on the market as we spotted a great place in our village - we were the first through the door about two weeks ago. We've tidied, cleaned, got the photos done, home report just about to be signed off (we're in Scotland btw) - and found out this morning the house we like is under offer Sad.

There's no plan B!! It's currently the only one of the right size/shape/price in our (very small) search area, and so now I'm feeling a tad nervous about venturing onto the market, with nowhere to go should we be fortunate enough to get some interest in our current home.

I know this was always a risk - to lose out on a place because we were looking before selling, but we felt like we needed to know there was a house we were keen on before taking the big step onto the market. Backfired a bit already hasn't it?! Confused Anybody got any words of reassurance or good advice??

If it's meant to be its meant to be.

Others will be around the corner.

I am a firm believer that houses find people rather than people find houses.

To add: we saw a house come on the market that we lived last October.

It's old straight away and we weren't in a position to move either.

We all of a sudden decided out of the blue 5 weeks ago to sell up and move.
Saw so many properties and offered on 6 of them. Most of which went to someone else.

Then this house came up again. The sale had fallen through.

I contacted the agent the very same day that happened and saw it later on that day and offered on it the next day.

Thanks beaver! I think I believe that too - it will all work out for the best, it just feels a bit scary at this point! And great that you got your house in the end. DH still thinks we'll get the one we wanted - and I suppose if we don't take the plunge now and the sale does fall through, we'd be back to square one. So it's worth it on that basis at least?!

Ok so We've finally clapped eyes on the schedule and home report for our house and am feeling weirded out by the whole thing! Most alarming is the fact that the surveyor has put the value at around 20k lower than the suggested value of the solicitor's agent! Shock This already seems so stressful and I'm already panicking that there's not going to be anything coming onto the market suitable for us.

Is this 'normal' house selling stress?? It would be like this at any point we decided to sell wouldn't it, even if we put it off?

I need some reassurance from the wise ladies of MN - DH is being utterly useless due to some strain of man flu which renders him of no strong opinion, my DM wasn't greatly encouraging this morning - she described house selling as 'horrible' several times Confused and my in laws would drive me demented if I asked for their thoughts on the matter...
