Please can you help me find a picture of this (or similar) kitchen?

We are buying a new build off plan and I am finding it difficult to visualise anything the kitchen. It doesn't help that DH doesn't like any of the kitchens available except one, which is wood, and my starting point was that we should get something light. So I'm trying to find a picture that will help me imagine what it would be like, but I am struggling. (I have a sneaking suspicion that this is because our taste is not very fashionable...)

The kitchen cabinets are these: Kitchen Cabinets in H08 Natural Aida Walnut and we would probably want black granite worktops (the one we've seen actually has little flecks in it which are gold-ish and look lovely next to the wood). The floor would be these tiles

The room is a kitchen diner approx 19ft by 9ft with a full wall of south facing windows/patio doors at the diner end, but the kitchen at the other end, which is why I am worried about light.

Sorry can't help you with a picture, but we are (hopefully...) midway through our extension and were thinking about having black granite worksurfaces. Our architect advised against it, as she says it will totally absorb the light. She wanted us to go for something light (Kashmir white), but we didn't like this. We are going for something in between. Our kitchen is north easy facing though, but does have slog of glass. We ard going with cream painted wood units for the same reason.

Dark cabinets & black tops will suck light out if your kitchen.

Or just walnut shaker kitchen

Thank you Ninety - None of the searches I was doing were bringing up the right images, but that has done the trick.

Marmite We currently have dark green granite in a north facing kitchen, but with cream cabinets. Good luck with your extension!

I think we are probably pretty wedded to the black granite, but different cabinets may be the way to go. Anyway, I've got some good pictures to look at with DH now, thanks.

Have you not got a window at the kitchen end? Our kitchen is similar, with glass doors at the south end and just a small northfacing window at the end where all the work happens.

Don't overlook lighting: we installed some low energy spotlights that we can turn on just to boost the light in a few strategic places when cooking, and have fairly light walls and cabinets. Those lights also double up as "mood" lighting in the evenings, and used with the main ceiling lights prevent them casting shadows.

Your light floor and choosing lightish tiles/walls/ceiling will counteract the cabinets and worktop, they are a much larger area. If you have a choice, you could miss out the wall cabinets over your main work area to keep it light as well.

Steam no we don't have a window at the kitchen end - it's an interior wall (dining/kitchen at the front of the house, living room at the back). Thanks for your comments, having looked at more pictures, I am thinking it may be OK. The kitchen is fitted with ceiling spots/downlighters and I've been looking into using LEDs instead of Halogens to make it more economical to use them, plus I will definitely install under cabinet lighting (another thread put me onto 'stick and play' led strips!). The walls and ceiling will be white and of course the dining end of the room will be very light because of that. There is no choice of layout, but there are no wall cabinets on the end wall, so there is a clear wall to reflect light from the windows opposite.

I think that this picture is very similar to the actual kitchen and worktop and a similar shape and size too (albeit this one does have a window!) but definitely the light flooring is key (how about this one for sucking the light out!)
